After the war, the bayonet lug was added to many M1 carbines throughout the arsenal refurbishing process. By the beginning on the Korean War, the bayonet lug-Outfitted M1 was standard difficulty. It is now uncommon to find an first M1 carbine with no bayonet lug. The M1 carbine mounts the M4 bayonet
